Aphex Twin is one of the most recognisable names in the sphere of electronic music, and rightly so. With an esteemed career spanning over thirty years under his belt, Aphex Twin continues to craft an inventive and idiosyncratic collection of contemporary intelligent dance music.
The British musician’s latest EP ‘Peel Session 2’ is a showcase of his influential style. Recorded as part of a special set of radio themed vinyl releases from Warp Records, Aphex Twin teamed up with John Peel to deliver masterful ambient techno which reflects his trademark production at its core.
The EP begins with long-lost track ‘Slo Bird Whistle’, which debuted once in 1995 and has mysteriously remained archived since. Three other tracks make up this concise collection – ‘Radiator’ and ‘p-string’ being the longest experimentations of dynamic synths and hi-hats. ‘Pancake Lizard’ ties together the illustrious EP, coming to a close on a more calming note, led by ornate string arrangements and incisive percussion.
