‘Overthinking’, the latest offering from London-based singer-producer Bearcubs (real name Jack Ritchie) and fellow creative narou, is a sleek exploration of intimacy set over a spacious and soothing instrumental.
A tranquil, mildly trap influenced, percussive blend of snares and 808’s, interspersed with the soft murmur of steel drums, lay the perfect foundation for Ritchie’s enigmatic vocals which gently lull you into the world of a relationship that “makes it hard to feel like anything else matters”.
Confirmed as the first release from new album Early Hours, Ritchie promises that this project will be “the closest representation of myself that I’ve managed to create so far and the most fluid listening experience”.
If this latest single is any indication of what’s to come, it’s clear there’s an exciting future in store for Ritchie who seems to be finding a more distinct voice with each new release.
